Q: What kind of training do the technicians who do the laser treatments have?
A: We only use qualified technicians who have been fully trained by the manufacturer and are experienced in the use of our technology.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Research has shown that for all body areas except for the face, 5 to 8 treatments will suffice for most cases. For the facial area, because it has so many hormonal issues, treatment requirement is higher than other areas.
Q: Can I go back to work after my treatment?
A: You will walk out looking great and feeling great! You can resume normal activity immediately. You will not need any ice packs, painkillers or creams.
Q: I am tanned and/ or dark skinned; will I be able to get treated?
A: Yes, you can be treated! Because of the newer technology, our laser treatment is extremely suitable for all skin types.
Q: What are the side effects of lasertrolysis?
A: Potential side effects are generally few and temporary.
Q: Is there discomfort?
A: Laser hair removal is generally a very well tolerated office treatment. The treatment has been described as feeling like an elastic band snapping against the skin. There is so little discomfort that pain medication is not even necessary.
Q: Will I experience any pigment changes?
A: Because Naturalase ignores the skin there is very little risk of pigment change in the skin. To date there has been little in the way of hypo or hyper-pigmentation changes of the skin in marked contrast to the previous shorter wavelength lasers. Therefore, this laser can be used in dark or even previously tanned skin.
Q: Will I be at risk for infection?
A: Because no actual cutting, surgery or skin penetration is required, infection following lasertrolysis is very rare. However, when treating facial areas, it is especially important to notify your physician of any cold sore tendency (herpes simplex eruptions) as these can be activated and disseminated to cause widespread infection and an increased risk of scarring and discoloration.
Q: Will I experience redness and swelling?
A: Occasionally there can be mild redness and swelling of treated areas. This is rare and in any event transient, lasting no more than a few hours.
Q: What sort of results should I expect?
A: At this point, the exact percentage of permanent hair removal that will result following lasertrolysis is in the region of 80%. There are unfortunately, no guarantees of 100% permanency. A minority of hairs may be resistant to treatment. Patients will require multiple sessions, usually between 7 - 12 treatments. Laser hair removal is not always effective on blond, gray, white or red hair.
Q: Is the treatment safe during pregnancy
A: Although no known adverse reactions upon a fetus are known to result from laser hair removal, we do not recommend proceeding with treatment if you are known to be pregnant.
Q: Are these laser treatments covered by Health Insurance?
A: Unwanted hair is a cosmetic concern and poses no medical or health care threat. As such, treatments are not covered by provincial health plans. There are no refunds once treatment has been performed.
